CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

With Government guidance announced earlier this week to help stop the spread of coronavirus, Bedford Borough Council is announcing some changes to our facilities and services at this extraordinary time.

As has been seen with other UK performance venues, the decision has been taken to close Bedford Corn Exchange for the time being.

We are currently managing all cancellations of shows and events on a rolling basis and are keeping the timeframe for this under constant review. We are seeking to reschedule performances for a later date wherever possible.

Where performances are rescheduled, tickets already purchased will be valid for the new date. Refunds will be issued for customers who are unable to attend the rescheduled date. For any cancelled performances, customers will be issued with a refund.

Our front of house team will be in contact with all affected customers in due course. Please bear with us during this time as we have a large number of customers to contact.

We will keep you up-to-date as the situation changes. Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this challenging time. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Soloist – Jaroslav Nadrzycki (violin)

Conductor – Michael Rose

Rossini – Overture: The Thieving Magpie

Paganini – Violin Concerto No.1

Dvorak – Symphony No.9 ‘New World’

Rossini’s opera The Thieving Magpie has a lively overture which is a Rossini faviourite and a great way to start a concert. The story centres around a magpie who fancies the silver spoon – you can guess the rest! Then we say a big “Hello” again to Jaroslav Nadrzycki, Bedford’s faviourte virtuoso of the violin. This time he has chosen to treat us to his amazing performance of Paganini’s equally amazing and virtuosic Violin Concerto No.1. The culmination of the concert is Dvorak’s New World Symphony.

Dvorak had accepted the post of Director of the New Conservatory of Music in New York and this symphony was a wonderful result of the new set-up. The symphony has everything – beautiful melodies, drama, excitment, vigour, brilliance, pathos, all put together with enormous skill and musicianship.

Don’t miss this concert!

In common with general theatre practice, we regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase, except where a show is cancelled. We can accept your tickets for resale, but the venue’s unsold tickets will take priority. A charge of £1.00 will be made if tickets are sold on your behalf.

Reservations
Tickets can be reserved for a period of 7 days. No unpaid reservations can be accepted in the 4 days prior to a performance.
